In the biblical series, The Mystery of the ONE Body, Iain MacMillan examines a fundamental issue when one reads the Scriptures: the children of Israel were God’s redeemed and chosen people. Deuteronomy 7:6
“For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. Romans 11:28
As regards the gospel, they are enemies of God for your sake. But as regards election, they are beloved for the sake of their forefathers. So throughout Scripture Israel is defined as the elect of God. The term “nations” is often used to describe those outside of Israel. However, it is also evident from Scripture that the Gentiles were also called by God, beginning with Abram: Genesis 17:1
When Abram was ninety-nine years old the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be blameless, 2 that I may make my covenant between me and you, and may multiply you greatly.”6 I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make you into nations, and kings shall come from you. 7 And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your offspring after you. 8 And I will give to you and to your offspring after you the land of your sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession, and I will be their God.”
9 And God said to Abraham, “As for you, you shall keep my covenant, you and your offspring after you throughout their generations. The mystery later revealed to the Apostle Paul, which the Abrahamic Covenant is embedded, concerns both the Jews and Gentiles, in that they together are fellow heirs, fellow members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel: Ephesians 3:3
how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I have written briefly. 4 When you read this, you can perceive my insight into the mystery of Christ, 5 which was not made known to the sons of men in other generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit. 6 This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.PDF notes are available for each lesson.

In the multi-part series entitled “The Gospel”, Iain MacMillan begins by asking an all-important question: Do we correctly understand the term “gospel” as used in the Scriptures? There are those who cavalierly speak and write about “the gospel of Jesus Christ”; however, has it been correctly defined by the Holy Scriptures, or manipulated and superseded by persuasive and blinding theological systems? Therefore, the overarching emphasis in this series determines how the Scriptures contextually define the gospel.
Another important question to ask and grasp is, how did Jesus Christ Himself define the gospel? The first words that Jesus spoke as presented in Mark in chapter 1 concern the proclamation of it, thereby underscoring its importance.
14Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, 15and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”
Many teach that there are many “gospels”; for example, Jesus preached one gospel and Paul another. However, when Paul confronted those preaching “another gospel”, he vehemently asserted that there is only ONE gospel. With apostolic authority, Paul wrote that if anyone proclaims a different gospel than he had preached, “let him be accursed” (Galatians 1:6-10). Paul affirms in the following two verses that the gospel he preached is the SAME gospel received by revelation from Jesus Christ (Galatians 1:11-12)!
What is the gospel? This certainly will be an eye-opener for most; it is the same gospel that Abraham believed and Paul preached.
“8And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you shall all the nations be blessed. 9So then those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham, the believer” (Galatians 3:8-9).
God’s promised blessing extends to “those who are of faith”. What is the content of their faith in this context? The same promise that God promised to Abraham, the believer. So, why is it necessary to believe in Jesus Christ?
Abraham’s “seed” is the conduit through which God’s promise to him (and to those believing the same promise by faith) is realized; and that “seed” is Jesus Christ.
“16Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say, ‘And to seeds,’ as referring to many, but rather to one, ‘And to your seed,’ that is, Christ. 17What I am saying is this: the Law, which came four hundred and thirty years later, does not invalidate a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to nullify the promise. 18For if the inheritance is based on law, it is no longer based on a promise; but God granted it to Abraham by means of a promise” (Galatians 3:16-18).
Paul’s conclusion is that “so that the promise [of inheritance] by faith in Jesus Christ [Abraham’s seed] might be given to those who believe [in God’s promise to Abraham]” (Galatians 3:22).
Thus, it is good news that God raised the “seed”, Jesus Christ from the dead:
“1Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, 2by which also you are saved, IF you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. 3For I delivered to you among first things what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:1-4).
Indeed, the same good news (or “gospel”) was proclaimed to the redeemed prior to Pentecost as after Pentecost. Referring to the Israelites, the author of Hebrews states,
“For indeed we have had good news preached to us, JUST AS THEY ALSO; but the word they heard did not profit them, because it was not united by faith in those who heard” (Hebrews 4:2).
Writing to “all who are beloved of God in Rome, called saints” (Romans 1:7), Paul states, “I am eager to preach the gospel TO YOU who are in Rome” (Romans 1:15).
Thus, it is vitally important to determine to whom the gospel is preached and who comprise the “lost” who are “found”.
Several other important topics concerning the gospel will also be discussed in this multi-part series.

In the biblical series, Will You Be Disqualified?, a difficult but serious question is addressed. Is it possible to be disqualified from the inheritance even though redeemed? What constitutes the inheritance? What the Apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthians, he believed that it was possible for him to be disqualified. Since it was possible for Paul to be disqualified, does this infer that we too may be disqualified?
“24Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. 25Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. 26So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. 27But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified” (1 Corinthians 9:24-27).
This series of messages identifies what the redeemed are TO DO to avoid disqualification, and focuses on the importance of “walking by faith” as compared to the popular misnomer of someone taking a “step of faith”. These messages identifies the error popularly espoused by those of “this present evil age” that a redeemed person can never be disqualified from their inheritance, despite living ungodly.
The goal of these messages is to expound how God’s redeemed are to walk in “this present evil age” to ensure they are not disqualified. The emphasis is for the redeemed to persevere and to inherit what God has planned for His children who walk by faith. Furthermore, the current ministry of our Lord and Savior as High Priest is exemplified to be absolutely necessary to realize the FULL future inheritance. Therefore, it is imperative that the godly qualities clearly depicted in the Scriptures are to be lived NOW in order to have an entrance into His coming earthly kingdom.

In the biblical series, Eternal Life, Iain MacMillan examines a subject that has caused difficulty for many readers of the Scriptures throughout the centuries. What does the phrase “eternal life” actually signify? While examining this question, he focuses on the authoritative Scriptures to clarify what God has communicated to His people concerning this crucial subject.
The main objective for this series is to stimulate the saints’ understanding of their inheritance in Christ’s coming Kingdom, and how this fundamental knowledge will assist them in fulfilling their responsibilities today in preparation for that Kingdom. As the study progresses, it will become evident that the “hope” to which the scriptural authors proclaimed is directly linked to the saints’ future “inheritance” as fellow-heirs with Abraham, and that having a clearer outlook concerning this “hope”, it will assist them not to grow weary, but remain faithful until death.
“I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints.” Ephesians 1:18
“For when God made the promise to Abraham . . . God, desiring even more to show to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of His purpose, interposed with an oath . . . This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil, where Jesus has entered as a forerunner for us, having become a high priest into the age according to the order of Melchizedek.” Hebrews 6:13-20
“Even so Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness. Therefore, be sure that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham. The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, ‘All the nations will be blessed in you’. So then those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham, the believer.” Galatians 3:6-9
“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.” Galatians 6:7-9
“Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of THE LIFE.” Revelation 2:10b
This study also examines several Greek words that have been traditionally mistranslated concerning the noun “eternal” and its corresponding adjective “everlasting”. Mistranslations of these terms have caused unnecessarily confusion and distortion of this vital truth. The author essentially maintains that the phrase “eternal life” pertains to the quality of life of Christ’s faithful disciples, that is, those who now do the will of His Father, and will experience this life during the coming age when Jesus Christ resurrects them “to everlasting life” (Daniel 12:2-3) and administers His Kingdom with the rod of righteousness on earth as the King of kings and the Lord of lords.

Introduction to the Gospel of the Kingdom
God inaugurated the greatness of the Kingdom in an unexpected humble manner. It came by way of a baby’s birth in an insignificant nation, and in the even more inconsequential city of Bethlehem. It came by way of a meek Galilean man without any earthly credentials; who went throughout the cities of Palestine, preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom and delivering God’s people from their bondage to sin and satanic powers, all the while not having a home to call His own. Yea, it came by way of Christ Jesus, the sinless One who taught above all else to seek God’s Kingdom and His righteousness. The very same One despised and rejected as the Messiah of the Kingdom by His own people. After being disfigured beyond recognition because of repeated beatings to the face and body, He was crucified on a cross. Following His triumphal resurrection and ascension, the Gospel later came to God’s people by Jesus’ apostles and disciples as they went throughout the Roman Empire with the same message, risking great peril and death. Nothing has changed, for it still comes today by God’s servants who take the same Gospel to His people and jeopardize their own lives for the Kingdom’s sake. [PDF]
The Grove Bible Fellowship delivered a series of messages entitled, Life Is ONLY In The Resurrection between January 4, 2009 and June 28, 2009. This series of audio lessons establishes by scriptural context God’s truth concerning the importance of the resurrection.
In the Garden as recorded in Genesis 3:4, Satan declared, “You will NOT surely die.” His contradiction to God’s earlier proclamation, “you shall surely die” (Genesis 2:17), was the first, and perhaps his most profound deception to mankind. This is the same lie that he, the father of all lies, still propagates today. It has infiltrated into Christianity to the degree that many have been unwittingly deceived that they will not actually die at death, but instead continue to live and immediately ascend into “heaven” without the scriptural mandate for resurrection or judgment. As a result, the concept of an immortal soul has integrated into Christian doctrine to buttress Satan’s lie.
Satan’s lie and the unscriptural concept of an immortal soul dilutes not only Jesus Christ’s resurrection, but also the necessity of the resurrection of “those who are Christ’s at His coming” (1 Corinthians 15:23) when He inaugurates His glorious earthly Kingdom. On the one hand, Satan’s lie attempts to eradicate God’s decree: “the wages for sin is death” (Romans 6:23). On the other hand, Life Is ONLY In The Resurrection exposes Satan’s lie by asserting the scriptural necessity of the resurrection, the crux of the New Testament writings. The truth that we are truly dead until the resurrection must again be established, and only then can the implications of Satan’s lie be unraveled for what it is.
We must counter Satan’s lie by arming ourselves with God’s truth that Life Is ONLY In The Resurrection. Only then will we walk by faith with our hope fixed on “the blessed hope” (Titus 2:13), Jesus Christ’s return and resurrecting to life those who are His when He comes to establish His Kingdom.

In the biblical series entitled Our Fathers Who Are Not in Heaven, Iain MacMillan challenges one of the most influential unbiblical doctrines that have been broadcasted throughout the centuries. This widely accepted doctrine has had a powerful influence how many Scriptures are interpreted. What is this teaching? It is that a believer has an immortal soul and that it ascends into heaven where it continues to live immediately after death of the body without the necessity of the resurrection.
This series of messages examine the overwhelming weight of scriptural evidence that the dead are dead. The Scripture heralds the dead that belong to Christ are wholly dead UNTIL He raises them from the dead on “the last day” when He returns to inaugurate His Kingdom on earth in the age to come. As an example, the apostle Paul writes that when someone dies, they are “asleep” until the resurrection.
“20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. 22 For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive 23 But each in his own turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when He comes, those who belong to Him” (1 Corinthians 15:20-23).
This common euphony to describe death as “sleep” is used elsewhere in the Scriptures to depict those who have died. Only a few examples are cited below.
“Consider and answer me, O Jehovah my God: Lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death” (Psalm 13:3).
“After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep” (1 Corinthians 15:6).
“So man lies down and does not rise; till the heavens are no more, men will not awake or be roused from their sleep” (Job 14:12).
“Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt” (Daniel 12:2).
“11 After he had said this, he went on to tell them, ‘Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I am going there to wake him up’. 12 His disciples replied, ‘Lord, if he sleeps, he will get better’. 13 Jesus had been speaking of his death, but His disciples thought He meant natural sleep. 14 So then He told them plainly, ‘Lazarus is dead‘.” (John 11:11-14).
The almost universal belief that people do not actually die, but instead, their immortal soul ascends to “heaven”, has no scriptural support. In fact, if this was true, our Lord would be a liar, for He categorically states during His discourse with Nicodemus:
“No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven-the Son of Man” (John 3:13).
Since no one has ever ascended into heaven except for Christ, then where are the dead? The scriptural teaching is that they are in their graves and remain there UNTIL the resurrection.
Finally, this series examines some of the scriptural passages used to support that believers have an immortal soul and it immediately ascends into heaven and continues to live after death.PDF notes are available for each lesson.
In this biblical series Iain MacMillan asks the central question, “Is Heaven Really Our Destination?” which brings into focus the discrepancy of the widely held belief of the church that individuals go immediately into heaven without the necessity of the resurrection. In addition to the fact that this belief does not have any scriptural validity, it detracts from the importance of the resurrection and the necessity of the subsequent judgment of the redeemed.
This series of messages underscore that we will all die because of our disobedience to God. The only exception is those who are still alive when Christ returns to inaugurate His Kingdom. Whether we die and are resurrected or transformed when Christ returns, we all have a divine appointment and must “appear before the judgment seat of Christ”.
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad” (2 Corinthians 5:10).
The outcome of this judgment will be based upon our present faithfulness. What is clear is that heaven is never the destination for the believer, whether at death or at resurrection, but the profound truth that the faithful will rule and reign with Him into the ages on earth.
“25Nevertheless what you have, hold fast until I come. 26He who overcomes, and he who keeps My deeds until the end, to him I will give authority over the nations; 27and he shall rule them with a rod of iron, as the vessels of the potter are broken to pieces, as I also have received authority from My Father” (Revelation 2:25-27).
One of the main objectives of this series is to give all those who belong to Christ a clearer view of their destination, and therefore to motivate them to endure UNTIL THE DAY .PDF notes are available for each lesson.

In this Biblical series entitled “Jesus and The Pharisees” Iain MacMillan examines the precise timing of Jesus arriving on earth. God’s timing is seen to be critical, not least that the religious systems within Israel was matured, so much so that Jesus used these systems to declare what God does not want from His people. Some of these Pharisees are seen utilizing the inspired word of God to ensure that people would never know God. Jesus did not use the pagan religions of His time to show people what God was not, rather He used those professing to be the “true worshippers of the true God”, as the example of what God detested in life.
Satan has not changed his schemes, he still endeavors to use the inspired word of God to hide the true intentions of the true God. This series highlights how Jesus confronted the established religious systems of His time to expose these schemes.
We must become aware of how satan so often operates through these current man-made religious systems of our world. God expects us to become knowledgeable so we do not get deceived:
in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.
(2 Corinthians 11:2)
So we will not be outwitted to the extent we are aware of satan’s schemes. This series highlights one of his main schemes is to masquerade as the “true” light of God, using the Name of Jesus Christ.
For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.
(2 Corinthians 11:13-15)
So it should not be surprising then when satan turns up as “an angel of light”, neither should it be surprising that his servants are hiding within the church as servants of righteousness.
One of Jesus’ main exhortation to His followers was to watch out for deceit, yet today these warnings are seldom recognized.
